Scott County's Plant Some Shade Program

On October 2, 2008, the Scott County Conservation Board is sponsoring a "Plant Some Shade" program funded by MidAmerican Energy and administered by the Iowa Dept of Natural Resources, Bureau of Forestry. MidAmerican Energy customers who live in Iowa are eligible to purchase trees for $25 each. Trees available are: Swamp White Oak, Red Oak, Sugar Maple, Adams Flowering Crabapple and Norway Spruce. Tree purchase is initially limited to two trees per household to ensure all customers have an opportunity to purchase trees. Advanced purchase is recommended. In the event additional trees are available on distribution day, they will be released for purchase at 4:30 p.m. on a first-come, first-served basis, or until all trees are sold. Trees must be picked up Thursday, Oct. 2, 2008, between 4:30 and 6:30 p.m. at West Lake Park, 14910 110th Ave., Davenport. Any trees not picked up by 6:30 p.m. on distribution day will be considered a donation to the Scott County Conservation Board.
